Houdini, because of all the jail escapes that he was doing, and the straightjacket escapes, had to know the police very well. I mean, they had to first of all provide the jails. They had to give their permission for doing an outdoor stunt. And he got to know a lot of cops. They were really his best friends. And then by the end of his life, he was carrying a New York City police badge that allowed him to cross all police lines. He also had a book, you know, listing the chief of police in every town – probably in the world, but certainly in the United States. And he sent chiefs of police tickets to his shows. They were very, very important to him.
