Houdini, because of all the jail escapes that he was doing, and the straightjacket escapes, had to know the police very well. I mean, they had to first of all provide the jails. They had to give their permission for doing an outdoor stunt. And he got to know a lot of cops. They were really his best friends. And then by the end of his life, he was carrying a New York City police badge that allowed him to cross all police lines. He also had a book, you know, listing the chief of police in every town probably in the world, but certainly in the United States. And he sent chiefs of police tickets to his shows. They were very, very important to him.
