Bethel United Methodist Church Before the Civil War, black congregants left Bethel Methodist to form their own church. The congregation of Bethel constructed a new building and gave the original building to the freedmen after the Civil War. Bethel Methodist is descended from the original white congregation, and sits adjacent to the black congregation, now known as Old Bethel. |
