First Baptist Church
Savannah, Georgia
Founded: 1800
Current Building: 1832

Many churches across the South were forced to close during the Civil War, but First Baptist remained open for regular services. The minister is said to have preached to Confederate soldiers the Sunday before Savannah fell, and Union soldiers the Sunday after.
