Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Church Reverend John Jasper, a former slave, began his ministry at Sixth Mount Zion in an abandoned Confederate horse stable. As the congregation grew, they moved to their present location. Jasper became known nationally as an orator, and led his congregation through difficult times during and after Reconstruction. |
