Founded: 1841
Current Building: 1841

Named for the fifth-century Christian bishop from North Africa, Saint Augustine is the mother church for nearly 100,000 African American Catholics in the New Orleans area. It is located in the Faubourg Treme, one of the oldest historically black neighborhoods in the nation.
