Saint John Baptist Church The rural community of Dorseyville was settled in the years following the Civil War by African Americans who worked at nearby sugar cane plantations. Among the earliest buildings in Dorseyville was St. John Baptist, which housed the congregation of Reverend Bazile Dorsey, the founder of the town and its namesake. |
