Q: What did CQD mean?
SD: CQD we believe has its origins in ham operator lingo. CQ meant seek
you or seeking you, I'm seeking you, are you out there? Is anybody out there?

seeking you, danger. And that's where CQD emerged from as the first distress
signal that was used.
