Description of Save Our Ship

Save Our Ship is a Shockwave activity that puts you in the shoes of Jack Binns. After the collision with the New York-bound steamship, the "Florida," you are asked to send a distress call using the ship's wireless setup.

A quick browse through the handbook located on the table gives you information you need to send out the call. It includes instructions on how to use the radio, on sending Morse code, and on the protocol for sending a distress message.

A message from Captain Sealby is delivered to the radio room. It's now up to you to transmit the message. A chart showing Morse code is tacked on the wall in front of you. Switch the radio to transmit, grab the key, and get to work. If you're successful, the land station on Nantucket will respond to your message and report that help is on the way.
