Alydar's son Easy Goer thrilled racing fans with a rivalry, just as his father had. Easy Goer's nemesis, Sunday Silence, finished first in two very close races at the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness. Easy Goer stepped up his efforts at the Belmont and won by eight lengths, preventing his enemy from sweeping the 1989 Triple Crown. The speedy chestnut colt won 14 of his 20 races, and placed second five times.
