Wallace for President

George Wallace's political career included four bids for the presidency of the United States. In 1964, 1972, and 1976 he ran as a Democrat, failing three times to receive the party's nomination. In 1968, running as an American Independent, he was popular enough with voters to secure a nomination and enter the national race.
The following maps show the results of the 1964 and 1972 Democratic primaries and the 1968 presidential election. The results for Wallace's 1976 campaign are not included, as his popularity had diminished early in the race.
