Buffalo Bill, Kit Carson, and other American Experience programs on the American West offer insights into social studies topics including European colonies in North America, Westward expansion, the American frontier, relations between Native peoples and settlers, the continent's natural resources, law and lawlessness on the frontier, myths or legends of the West, nostalgia for the West, and more. Use part or all of the two programs, or delve into the rich resources available on this Web site to learn more.
This teacher's guide includes four elements:

Teachers are encouraged to adapt the guide to meet their own learning objectives for their students.
