From:  Delvin McMillian, Wheelchair Rugby

Being a part of U.S.A. wheelchair rugby is an honor because I get to represent my country. But competing as a national athlete takes a lot of hard work and dedication -- especially if you’re trying to balance it with a fulltime job and family.

Welcome to my life!

Four out of six days during the week start out at 4:30 am. I work out for a little more than an hour and a half, starting about 6:30.  Upon completion of my workout, I head to my job, from 9 to 5.  I spend my evenings going over homework with my son and also taking him to baseball practice, and I'm in bed by 8:30 pm.

Now, this may seem extreme for some of you who are reading this blog.

I don't see it that way. Why, you may ask?

When it comes to the people I love and the things I love to do, I don't mind. I know the hard work and long hours will pay off in due time.
