Not long after producer Martin Smith's report aired, this section was included in briefings conducted for top Bush policymakers in late '06-early '07.

The briefers intercut satellite images of a major Taliban compound with Smith's questioning of Pakistan's UN ambassador on why Haqqani hasn't been arrested. The briefers then showed satellite imagery of Pakistan Army offices -- next door to the Taliban compound.

It's all in a forthcoming book by Afghanistan expert Seth G. Jones, In the Graveyard of Empires.

And yes -- Jones reports in his book that the FRONTLINE segment was removed when the U.S. conducted the briefing for Pakistani officials.
