Bruce Herman Bruce B. Herman was born in Glendale, California, and is the great great-grandson of a Prussian cavalry trooper from the Franco-Prussian War of 1870. He has an extensive background in Western European and American military history and is a graduate of the KIIS-FM broadcasting workshop in Hollywood, California. He was a radio news director and news writer in his early years.

Mr. Herman became a full-fledged collector of military antiques by age 10 and with more than three decades of experience, he has collected and sold almost every conceivable type of American and Western European military antique between 1600 and 1945.

He is an internationally recognized authority in World War II memorabilia of all kinds, and also specializes in European and German militia to 1945. The Civil War, American Revolution, War of 1812, Mexican War, and Colonial eras are also specialties for which he has gained national preeminence in the antique militaria field.

He is often called upon by notable auction houses for his expertise and guidance in the field of military antiques and has participated in appraisal clinics. Frequently a speaker at historical society events, he has also done many appraisals for museums and eminent private collectors worldwide.

Mr. Herman has been credited in the acknowledgments of many military reference books, and owns a vast library on the subject. He has also authored several articles for ANTIQUES ROADSHOW Insider and is now writing a book on the headgear of Imperial Germany. In addition, he is a respected member of numerous military collector and historical societies.
