I enjoyed this Biography-like show on Jeff Bridges a lot, as I have his film work in his movies I’ve already seen. (Plus several documentary excerpts will entice me to rent several of his movies I hadn’t seen yet.)
I am really interested to know what Piano song Jeff Bridges is playing around minute 39 of the documentary.
(He’s playing at his home piano and you see his kitchen in the background, before the segment that looks like it’s from the Fabulous Baker Boys)
It reminds me of Bill Evan’s playing on Miles Davis’ Flamenco Sketches on the Kind of Blue album.
I’d like to find the sheet music if someone can better identify it.

I missed the film for the second time!! Is there any chance that it will be rebroadcast in the future..if so, when.? Is it possible to purchase a DVD of the film?

I loved this, but when i tried to send a link to it to friend’s in Europe, they said they couldn’t see it from there. Is there a reason for that? Great program and I loved th extra material too. What a fascinating human!

Great tribute, wish it had included a touch more than a picture still from the set of the original TRON but hey, great… and the Dude truly abides. That role will live forever!
Cam, in response to your question, the likely reason your friends in Europe could not view the film is that PBS only has the US TV and online rights under license so they have to block viewers outside of the US from seeing the film on their website. It could be that some European television networks have licensed the film and will broadcast it in their respective countries.

Why can’t I see this in the US Virgin Islands? I have a regular US zip code! We have a regular local PBS station! Oh well, I guess I’ll just go back to enjoying the warm, sunny weather while the snow piles up in the States and you can sit inside and watch this documentary.

Loved him for years-one of the coolest actors I’ve watched in the past thirty years. Really fell for him in the Fisher King and he’s still hitting it out of the park.
Jeff is my favorite actor…a genius. This has been beautiful to watch…a great show and profile of a person we know so little about, really. I hung on every word and could have watched this documentary much much longer.
I love American Masters….what more can be said?….
A wonderful person, great overall artist, and a master of his craft. He is the type of person you hope to see make many more movies to come because they all are a pleasure to watch. It was a great episode of American Masters and in my opinion the best one to date.
What a wonderful gift….Jeff Bridges has always been one of my very favorite actors and to see him in this rare footage along with the great movies he’s been in was a truly exhilirating experience. Thanks to Jeff and PBS!
