(72 by 88 inches)
This quilt, inspired by the book, Barns of Wisconsin by Jerry Apps and
Allen Strang, pays tribute to the vanishing barns in Wisconsin.
The multiple award winner was used by the State of Wisconsin as a theme
for its Sustainable Agriculture brochure. It was also featured in Wisconsin
Trails magazine, and the 1988 AQS engagement calendar. The quilt is machine
pieced, hand appliquéd, quilted and embroidered.
The green borders represent fences. The inside pieced border triangles
are quilted in waves representing furrowed fields. The vine is a stylized
twining of bittersweet and the outer borders represent a rail fence.
