This project started with a Brazilian embroidery wallhanging that my husband's grandmother made for us when we got married in 1982.

A few years later, when I got into quilting, I started collecting fabrics to make it into a quilt. This past winter it decided to become a vest, in part because I had a deadline approaching for our June 1999 R.A.G.S. (Radical Alaskan Garment Society) show.

At a family reunion in Bemidji, Minnesota in July I was able to show my husband's grandmother the finished garment. She was really excited and had to show it to all of her friends.
