"The
foolish man seeks happiness in the distance; The wise grows it under
his feet." These words by the American poet, James Oppenheim, would
no doubt be familiar ones--if not literally, then by the sentiment they
express--to
the people profiled in this edition of Body
& Soul.

In "Ode to Joy: Why Your Attitude Matters," Gail Harris takes
a look at the relationship between health and happiness and our attitude.
First you will meet Mary Alice Williams, a dynamic and electrifying
gospel singer whose simple joy for song nurtured her through trying
personal circumstances and continues to define her life. Body
& Soul finds her making her joyful noise in a gospel
singing workshop at the Omega Institute.

Stella Resnick, Ph.D. is an unabashed pleasure seeker, though not in
ways you might think. She wrote The Pleasure Zone: Why We Resist
Good Feelings & How to Let Go and Be Happy, and in a lengthy
conversation with Gail Harris, Resnick offers up her ideas on finding
the pleasure in daily life.

Finally, Sara Ban Breathnach, author of Simple Abundance, tells
of recuperating from a disabling accident and how her return to health
was all about discovering the joy in all of the little things in life.
