Asia
- Vegetation
From the riverine forests and great plains of the north and east -
home to edible grasses like rice, and pulses like lentils and soya
- to the tropical fruits of the southern jungles, there is plenty
of food available throughout Asia – although gathering can be
heavily season-dependent. The cultivation of grasses depends on heavy
irrigation, since rainfall is irregular, and many native crops require
submersion in water. Building materials and fuel include maple, chestnut,
redwood and bamboo. Palms are also abundant in the south and east.
