Pilots in hand, the new "high performance" workforce at Harley-Davidson
in Kansas City is exploring better ways to put together their famous
sportster bikes. With the support of a unique partnership between
management and the unions, plant workers take part in everything from
design to budgeting to building the bikes. The result is a more informed
