A month after Hurricane Maria made landfall in Puerto Rico, about 80 percent of the island still lacks power, a figure that critics have attributed to inadequate planning and a lack of electrical workers on the ground.

Puerto Rico's power infrastructure needed maintenance even before the storm, and the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) filed for bankruptcy in July. Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rosselló said this week he wants to restore power to 95 percent of the island by Dec. 15.
