The House Oversight Committee on Wednesday released the transcript of Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick's testimony during a closed-door deposition on his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.

Lutnick spoke with lawmakers May 6 following criticism of contradictory statements he gave about his ties to the late convicted sex offender. Lutnick was once Epstein's neighbor and exchanged emails with the disgraced financier, which were released by the Department of Justice in February.

The committee also released the transcript of its deposition with Ted Waitt, Maxwell's former boyfriend and co-founder of Gateway Inc.

Congress has been investigating the federal government's handling of cases related to Epstein and his former girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell. The House committee has sought testimony from several other notable figures, including former President Bill Clinton, former secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Bill Gates, who is scheduled for a deposition next month.
