Attorney General Pam Bondi announced federal charges Friday against a suspect accused of sending a threatening letter to conservative commentator Benny Johnson.

Bondi said law enforcement has arrested George Isbell Jr. and charged him with mailing threatening communications.

"This was a coward hiding behind a keyboard who thought he could get away with this," she said.

The attorney general appeared at a news conference with Johnson and other officials, where she railed against recent political violence, including the fatal shootings of Charlie Kirk and Minnesota lawmaker Melissa Hortman.
