According to the subcommittee's website, the hearing will examine why artists have not received royalty payments from non-subscription terrestrial radio stations as well as modernization of copyright law. The hearing will also consider the American Music Fairness Act of 2023 which would "require a license for broadcasting creative works over the radio."
