WATCH: James Comey delivers keynote address to Howard University students
Former FBI Director James Comey is the keynote speaker for Howard University's opening convocation address, welcoming the class of 2021 to the new school year at the historically black college.
Comey is expected to speak at Howard University at 11 a.m. ET today. Watch his remarks in the player above.
Months after President Donald Trump fired Comey in May, Howard officials invited the ex-FBI chief to take part in a series of lectures at the school during the academic year.
Comey is expected to donate his compensation of $100,000, earned from being the university's endowed chair in public policy for this school year, to a scholarship for Howard students who came from foster care.
"Howard has a longstanding history of being a vibrant academic community and the perfect place to have rich dialogue on many of the most pressing issues we face today," Comey said of his position in a statement. "I look forward to contributing to this remarkable institution and engaging students and faculty alike."
