Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced Thursday the Department of Justice is cracking down on schemes that defraud seniors.

"We have charged more than 200 defendants for committing elder fraud schemes and brought civil actions against dozens more," Sessions said.

Those defendants allegedly defrauded more than half a billion dollars from more than one million Americans.

Sessions also said the Senate's Aging Committee's Fraud Hotline received double the reports in 2016 that it did in 2015.
