President Donald Trump is scheduled to deliver remarks today at the 2018 Project Safe Neighborhoods National Conference in Kansas City, Missouri.

Trump is scheduled to speak at 12:50 p.m. ET. Watch the president's remarks in the player above.

The initiative was first launched under the George W. Bush administration in 2001 to combat gun violence in the country. In October, then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that the Project Safe Neighborhoods program would be reinvigorated to reduce violent crime in the country.

Before departing for Missouri, Trump said he was nominating William Barr, who served under George H.W. Bush, to replace Sessions as attorney general. Sessions was ousted as attorney general last month. The president also said he'd nominate Heather Nauert to replace Nikki Haley as U.N. Ambassador.
