Brazil's Senate voted 55-22 to impeach President Dilma Rousseff Thursday, the Associated Press reported.

Opponents of Rousseff, Brazil's first female president, allege that she illegally shuffled around money to fill holes in the federal budget. The country's lawmakers have 180 days for a trial that would explore allegations of wrongdoing before conducting a final vote that could remove Rousseff from office permanently, according to the Associated Press.
