Feb. 10, 2022: PBS’s flagship investigative documentary series FRONTLINE and CUNY’s Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism have selected Bruce Gil as a 2022 Tow Journalism Fellow. The year-long position is funded by The Tow Foundation.

Gil received his master’s degree in December, with a dual concentration in Spanish-language reporting and health and science reporting. During his fellowship, which began on Monday, February 7, Gil will report and write his own digital stories, and will collaborate with other FRONTLINE journalists and producers, contributing to digital and transmedia projects, including the documentary and podcast series.

“Our Tow Journalism Fellows have been an essential part of our in-house reporting ranks these past few years, and we’re so pleased to welcome Bruce to our team,” said Raney Aronson-Rath, FRONTLINE’s executive producer. “We are excited to continue our journalism fellowship with the Newmark J-School and grateful to The Tow Foundation for their generous support of our journalism and public media mission.”

“We are delighted that another of our talented alumni has the opportunity to work closely with a news organization as outstanding as FRONTLINE, thanks to the support of The Tow Foundation,” said Sarah Bartlett, dean of the Newmark J-School.

Gil has previously reported for Univision, Las Vegas Weekly and Desert Companion. Most recently, he provided production and research assistance on the three-part series “After Ayotzinapa,” a project of Reveal, from The Center for Investigative Reporting.

Earlier in Gil’s career, he worked as a news producer for the public radio station KUNV, and as an editorial and production assistant for the Emerge Impact + Music Conference. He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and media studies from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and currently resides in New York City.
