The Radio Television Digital News Association announced today that FRONTLINE has been honored with a 2023 Edward R. Murrow Award for its investigative documentary storytelling.
Plot to Overturn the Election, FRONTLINE’s 2022 film in partnership with ProPublica, was honored in the “News Documentary” category.
From correspondent A.C. Thompson and director and producer Samuel Black, the award-winning investigation examines how the idea that the 2020 election was stolen from former President Donald Trump became a defining issue of the Republican Party.
Plot to Overturn the Election traces how myths about election fraud made their way to the center of American politics and reveals how a handful of people had an outsized impact on the nation’s crisis of democratic legitimacy. Earlier this year, the documentary was honored with a Walter Cronkite Award.
The collaborative documentary and other 2023 Edward R. Murrow Award winners will be honored at the Awards Gala on Oct. 9 at Gotham Hall in New York City.
