“In Factories and Fields: Uncovering COVID’s Hidden Toll on Essential Workers” Virtual Event

COVID’S HIDDEN TOLL

Thursday, July 30th at 6:30pm EST / 3:30pm PST

FRONTLINE invites you to join a compelling conversation with Daffodil Altan and Andrés Cediel, the filmmaking team behind COVID’s Hidden Toll. The virtual program will feature film clips and a conversation about the hidden cost of the pandemic on immigrants and undocumented agricultural workers who make up the essential work force helping to provide the nation’s food supply. 

The discussion will explore: 

• How there are no national mandatory COVID protections for workers – only voluntary guidelines – and companies are not required to tell their own employees about potential infections at their worksites. 
• Efforts to establish more aggressive measures to protect workers, such as in California, where many of America’s fruits and vegetables are grown. 
• The significance of the human toll – highlighting the experiences of co-workers and family members as they navigate the risks of going to work and protecting their health, with limited access to crucial information and resources.
