Fall is officially here — and so is a new season of FRONTLINE.

Midway through the year that marks our 40th anniversary on the air, we remain deeply committed to holding power to account through independent journalism that’s tough, fair, and asks questions others can’t or won’t.

Most recently, we’ve been hard at work on major new investigations that stretch from the baseball diamond, to Silicon Valley, to the halls of power in Washington, D.C., to a Ukrainian city under siege. The subject matter varies, but there’s a common thread: This is accountability journalism in the public interest.

I’m pleased to share an official first look at what you can expect from FRONTLINE in the weeks ahead:

  • Tonight: Putin vs. the Press | Watch the PBS broadcast premiere of our recent documentary chronicling Nobel laureate Dmitry Muratov’s fight for independent journalism in Russia (check local listings), or stream it anytime.
  • Oct. 3: The Astros Edge: Triumph and Scandal in Major League Baseball | Premiering the same day the MLB postseason begins, our 90-minute investigation probes a high-tech sign-stealing scandal that rocked baseball and the limited accountability that resulted.
  • Oct. 10: Elon Musk’s Twitter Takeover | From the team behind Amazon Empire and The Facebook Dilemma, our two-hour documentary examines how one of the world’s richest people went from one of Twitter’s most provocative users to its sole proprietor — and the ramifications.
  • Oct. 31: McConnell, the GOP and the Court | Amid scrutiny of the U.S. Supreme Court, a power struggle in the GOP, a potential government shutdown and a polarized democracy, our award-winning political team traces how Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell helped transform the high court and U.S. politics.
  • Nov. 7: Inside the Uvalde Response | With ProPublica and The Texas Tribune, we reconstruct the chaotic response to one of the deadliest school shootings in Texas history and examine the lessons learned.
  • Nov. 21: 20 Days in Mariupol | An award-winning, feature-length film from the last international journalists inside the Russian siege of Mariupol, Ukraine, this extraordinary account is seen through the lens of The Associated Press’ Mstyslav Chernov and two colleagues who documented the atrocities and their own escape. It screened at the United Nations earlier this month.

That’s just the beginning.

As our season unfolds, we’ll keep bringing you probing conversations with the journalists behind our documentaries in our FRONTLINE Dispatch podcast (a new episode is coming later this week).

We’ll continue supporting independent local reporting on everything from mental health to migrant teen labor through our Local Journalism Initiative.

We’ll keep releasing films from our archives on YouTube on Tuesdays — and we’ll also be launching a new initiative on YouTube in the coming months.

And of course, we’ll keep following stories wherever they may lead — bringing you investigative documentaries and digital reporting worthy of your trust.

As our new season begins, and always, I’m thankful for your support.
