Congratulations to longtime FRONTLINE producer Michael Kirk, who just received the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication’s First Amendment Award. “He has consistently created broadcast journalism that informs voters,” said the AEJMC.

“While that may not mean our programs are directly tied to issues and ballot box decisions, it does mean that they are intended to offer citizens knowledge that will inform their choices about candidates, causes, cultural trends, and the most pressing matters facing the nation and the world,” Kirk said.

Kirk’s recent films include Obama’s Deal, The Warning, Inside the Meltdown, The Choice 2008 and Bush’s War. Top Secret America, his latest project, will air on Sept. 6.
