Max Maldonado

Former Tow Journalism Fellow, FRONTLINE/Newmark Journalism School Fellowships

Max Maldonado was a Tow Journalism Fellow from 2024-2025. He is a documentary filmmaker and audio journalist from New York City and West Palm Beach, Fla. A graduate of the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY, he reported on healthcare disparities, air pollution in the Bronx and the fading wetlands of Staten Island.

Before joining FRONTLINE, Max worked on the Center for Investigative Reporting's Reveal podcast. He worked as a production assistant on their "The COVID Tracking Project" miniseries, which follows the COVID pandemic's early grip on the United States and how a series of government missteps allowed its deadly spread to go unchecked.

He is currently working on two short documentaries about the sugar industry in South Florida, and another on the Coalition of Immokalee Workers. His work has received recognition from organizations such as the Redford Center, IF/THEN Shorts, the Knight Foundation, the Working Film Fund, the Southern Documentary Fund and the Economic Hardship and Reporting Project.
