Jason Greenblatt was White House special envoy to the Middle East during the first Trump administration. Though he had no prior experience with international diplomacy, in Trump’s White House, he worked closely with Jared Kushner on an ambitious foreign policy agenda, which, according to Greenblatt, included building a rapport with the new leadership in Saudi Arabia and seeking a resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
In this episode of The FRONTLINE Dispatch, listen to an extended interview between Greenblatt and veteran FRONTLINE correspondent Martin Smith, originally filmed for Smith’s recent documentary The Crown Prince & the President. The interview has been edited for length and clarity.
A video version of this interview is available in FRONTLINE’s YouTube channel.
The Crown Prince & the President is available to stream now on FRONTLINE’s website, FRONTLINE’s YouTube channel, and the PBS App.
