PODCAST: I’m Not A Monster

Episode 12, epilogue: “Those we leave behind”

January 17, 2022
Reported by:

In northern Iraq, journalist Josh Baker tracks down two memorable voices from the podcast: Ayham, a young Yazidi boy, and Suad, a young Yazidi woman. Both were taken from their families and sold into slavery, among thousands of other members of the Yazidi religious community who were kidnapped by the Islamic State group.

In the months since the podcast series wrapped, Baker has heard from listeners asking: What are Ayham and Suad’s lives like now? In a new epilogue, Baker returns to Iraq to find answers. Listen to “Those We Leave Behind” now on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher or wherever you get your podcasts, and stay tuned for more.
