    Around the World in 80 Days

    Around the World in 80 Daysthe classic, beloved tale by author Jules Verne, is sailing on over to MASTERPIECE! Pack your bags for the upcoming adventure starring David Tennant (Doctor Who, Good Omens) as the great explorer Phileas Fogg, Ibrahim Kona as Passepartout, and Leonie Benesch as Abigail Fix.     Sanditon

    Sanditon fans rejoice! The series was renewed for not only one, but two new seasons. Rose Williams (Charlotte Heywood), Crystal Clarke (Georgiana Lambe), Charlotte Spencer (Esther Denham), and more will be returning for the all-new season. Plus, some new faces will be joining the fun in Sanditon, including Rosie Graham as Charlotte’s younger sister Alison; Ben Lloyd-Hughes as Alexander Colbourne, a mysterious new resident in town; and Tom Weston-Jones as Colonel Francis Lennox, Colbourne’s rival for Charlotte’s heart.     Tom Jones

    Tom Jones is getting an all-new, imaginative adaptation on MASTERPIECE! Based on the classic 1749 Henry Fielding novel The History of Tom Jones, A Foundling, the sweeping, complicated tale of romance, scandal, and mishap doesn’t have a premiere date quite yet, but some exciting casting announcements have been made. The cast includes Solly McLeod (The Rising) as titular character Tom Jones and Sophie Wilde (You Don’t Know Me) as the enchanting heroine Sophia Western, as well as Emmy award-winner Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso, Game of Thrones), Pearl Mackie (Doctor Who), James Fleet (Bridgerton), and more.     Magpie Murders

    Magpie Murders, based on the 2016 novel by British author Anthony Horowitz, is coming to MASTERPIECE in 2022. The series, starring Lesley Manville (World on Fire, Phantom Thread), Conleth Hill (Game of Thrones) and Tim McMullan (Patrick Melrose), tells the story of a book editor set out to obtain the final pages of a famed author’s latest novel. But what she finds instead leads to a winding mystery she never expected. See the first images from the show here!

    Miss Scarlet and The Duke

    Miss Scarlet and The Duke fans — the show will officially be back for a second season of will-they-won’t-they banter, mysterious cases, and more. Filming of the new season began in August of 2021 in Belgrade, Serbia. Be sure to keep a close eye out for the Season 2 premiere date and previews!

    Grantchester

    Grantchester is back for a sometimes merry, always murderous Season 6, which is currently airing on Sundays at 9/8c, now through November 21, 2021. But the good news doesn’t end there! Our beloved Grantchester stars are already hard at work filming Season 7.

    Season 7 also marks a major milestone for star Tom Brittney — he’s stepping behind the camera to direct an episode of the series for the first time! Brittney said he’s “absolutely over the moon to be given the opportunity to direct an episode this series, it’s been a life ambition of mine and I can’t wait for the audience to see it (and also I can finally order Robson about!).” Learn more details about Season 7 here.

    Endeavour

    Endeavour fans, never fear. Season 8 is officially in the works, with Shaun Evans returning as DS Endeavour Morse and Roger Allam returning alongside him as DCI Fred Thursday.

    Not only that, but Evans is, once again, stepping behind the camera to direct the Season 8 premiere! He first directed an episode of the series back in the Season 6 episode “Apollo” (hear him describe the experience in an interview with the MASTERPIECE Studio Podcast), and again for the Season 7 premiere “Oracle”.
