MD -- The Making of a Doctor, Part II

Program Overview

The first part of this series chronicled the progress of seven students at Harvard Medical School. This program revisits those students to follow their first three years after graduation. In addition to presenting their professional growth and development, the program also documents how their career choice has affected the personal lives of these young doctors.

During the three years of internship and residency, doctors gain experience in their chosen specialty. Each of the doctors in the program expresses different reasons for choosing medicine as a career, and for choosing a particular specialty within the field. They also work through the stresses and challenges of the job. They try to achieve a balance of work and personal life as they proceed through their first years in the profession.
