Ahmadinejad's inauguration ceremony: shows and no-shows

[TEHRAN BUREAU] Source: Mowjcamp.com For the first time in 12 years, the Iranian presidential inauguration ceremony was not broadcast live.

Photos of the ceremony were released after receiving approval from the Leader's office and the majority of media outlets were unable to send a photographer or reporter to the event.

The most important absentees were Ali Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani, Seyyed Mohammad Khatami, Mir Hossein Mousavi, Mehdi Karroubi, Seyyed Hassan Khomeini and Ali Akbar Nateq-Nouri. None of the late Imam Khomeini's family members were present at the ceremony.

According to an IRNA report the only members of the Majlis Minority bloc present at the ceremony were Mostafa Kavakebian, Mohammad-Reza Tabesh and Mohammad-Reza Khabbaz.

Prominent members of the Assembly of Experts absent from the ceremony included Ayatollahs Ibrahim-Amini, Javadi-Amoli, Vaez-Tabasi, Reza-Ostadi, Hashemzadeh-Hareesi, Hassan-Rouhani, Dorri-Najafabadi, Dastgheyb, Ali-Razini and Taheri Khoramabadi.

Aref, Mohammad-Reza Bahonar, Ahmad Masjid-Jamei'i, Emad Afrough and Ali Motahari were not in the footage broadcast by state television.

Those who attendeed included political figures such as Judiciary Chief Hashemi-Shahroudi, Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani, Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf, Abdollah Jasbi, Mostafa Pourmohammadi, Ahmad Tavakoli, Mohammed Nahavandian (head of the commerce chamber), Davoud Danesh-Jafari and Hossein Saffar-Harandi.

Among the attendees were a number of Iranian television personalities, actors and athletes such as Ahmad Najafi, Mohammad-Reza Sharifinia, Majid Mojzafari and Hossein Rezazadeh.
