Music | An End to Tehran's Symphony Orchestra?

24 Oct 2012 00:29Comments
238cdafd0d.jpg[ news ] Financial problems may force the Tehran Symphony Orchestra to disband, according to Iran's semiofficial Mehr News Agency.

Quoting an anonymous musician, Mehr reports that member contracts, which expired eight months ago, have not been renewed and salaries remain unpaid.

Musicians have lodged complaints with authorities but have not received any clear answers, according to Mehr. The orchestra has not played in a long time and performs now only when it is commissioned.
