Biography
A western Massachusetts native, Christopher Kennedy attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst after his discharge from military service in 1972. While pursuing an undergraduate degree in American history, he developed an interest in the then-nascent area of 20th-century design. After completing his college courses, he opened an antique store in Northampton, Massachusetts, dealing in items from the Victorian to modern eras. His concentration on modern design began in 1981. He presently operates as e-modern. He is also the owner of DESIGNbase, a publishing and design research firm in Northampton. While primarily a dealer, Mr. Kennedy is also a consultant to auctions and individuals and a researcher on aspects of 20th-century design. He has lectured and written numerous articles on modern design. He edited and co-authored "Edward Wormley: The Other Face of Modernism," published in 1997.
