- Probably just the bed squeaking.
(hyenas giggling) - Elmo, what is so funny?
- Elmo wasn't laughing.
(hippo groaning) (everyone shouting) - Help.
- What's wrong?
What's wrong?
(lion roaring) - [Everyone] That.
- Nighttime in the bush can get quite loud, but you have nothing to worry about.
You're perfectly safe.
- Yeah, don't worry.
That's just a lion.
- Just a lion?
- Is it close?
- No, it's loud.
You can hear a lion roaring five miles away.
(hippo grunting) - Whoa somebody's tummy is grumbling.
- Oh goodness, no.
That's a hippo.
- What?
- You'd have to be really hungry for your tummy to sound like that.
(hyena giggles) - Are the hippos laughing?
- No, that is a sound of a spotted hyena.
- Wait, what?
Isn't it past their bed time?
- No way, they're nocturnal.
So they're mostly resting during the day and awake all night.
- [Abby] Wow.
- Yeah, I'm going to be awake all night too.
- It takes some getting used to, but once you learn to recognize all the voices of the animals, it doesn't feel so scary anymore.
It feels alive and beautiful.
