School Description
James Logan High is the only comprehensive public high school in the mid-sized suburban community of Union City, located on the east side of San Francisco Bay. Over 4200 students make up he ethnically diverse student body.
The school is divided into a house structure with approximately 1,400 students, 70 teachers, and 10 support staff per house. Students at the school speak 27 different languages. Approximately 30% of the students are recent immigrants from over 60 different countries.

In the1950's farms gave way to real estate development in the area. The consolidation of small towns took place, and the area emerged with the cities of Fremont, Newark and Union City. This influx of new residents meant families with school-age children. James Logan High opened its doors to students in 1959.
