Sand Hill Road goes into a panic when it becomes clear that there is more money available than good opportunities for investing it, shades of 1999. No bubble this time, though, because the reasons behind the effect are different -- there is a decided lack of IPO activity -- but VCs will still be excessively crashing their MacLaren F1s as they see their era fading.

Um, this prediction is kind of moronic. Let's state the obvious and come out at the end looking like some kind of psychic.
Sorry, but this prediction was already made when SOX was signed after Enron and WorldComm. It isn't that there are not any good ideas, but there are not enough good ideas that you can take public in the SOX era without a huge impact to the overall value of the business. Screw the IPO, VCs can still prospect and profit without having to go to the IPO option. Not a great option but profit is profit. It's just a matter of unwinding those positions which can prove to be difficult.
