Before the autopsies could begin, the pathologists removed the clothing as well as any blindfolds or ligatures and carefully checked the pockets for personal items. As the clothes were bagged and sent outside to be washed, the personal items would be taken away to be examined by the evidence technicians, who tagged and photographed every object.
