TRANSCRIPT GLC 2437.15.162
Henry Knox. Letter: West Point, to George Washington, 1783 November 6. 1 p. + doc.

West point 6 Nov 1783

my Dear sir

[struck: I have the honor] I have just received the Cannons from [inserted: Mr] Billings for the Count de Grasse. I know not exactly who to direct them to, but supposing that your Excellency might wish to See them and probably send a letter to the Count, I have taken the liberty to direct the Serjeant who has then in change to take your orders respecting them. In case you should have departed from Princeton [struck: I have] and the Secretary of War, I have addressed this to the Minister of France.

I am my Dear Sir
Your most obedint
and most humble Servt
H Knox

His Excellency General Washington

[docket]
[inserted – different hand: November 6th 1783]
To his Excellency
General Washington
6th November 1783.
