dear Sir
I
have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your private letter of the 24th.
Mr
Andrew Allen, ([struck: the brother of
Mr. Penn and] who came out with Mr. & Mrs Penn [inserted: and who is brother of the latter.]) has been well
received. Previously to his return
a pardon, or the reversal of this attainder, was [strike-out] obtaned from the Governor, under the seal of the State.
[struck: He is therfore received into society apparently with great
esteem] [inserted: He appears to be

obliteration of his former conduct] and [inserted:
his former conduct entirely obliteratd.] I dined in company with him at two days
ago with Mr King the <?> I thank you for your kind <?>. Mrs. Knox
