Immigration Issues

Just as the United States was built by immigrants looking to start a new life, people who come to a new country today strive for the same things most people do: a job, a home, food and clothing. They seek to contribute their skills and receive the dignity and respect each of us deserves.

With recent changes in U.S. immigration policies, immigration has sparked lively discussions among diverse communities. THE CITY touches on issues that merit further exploration, such as education, workers' rights and women and immigration. Many myths about immigrants are perpetuated by cultural stereotypes in the media, and fear of outsiders causes reactionary responses. Some people blame immigrants for changes in economic and social conditions, without weighing the complex factors involved.
