Kendra's Song
Shiela Nicholls

Lyrics

Don't make her smile for that photograph
It's just for your comfort after all
He's just ignorant she says casually
From all her wisdom to all your fool

She learned more in a day than most do in their lives
The prize of wisdom obeys and the gift of her survives
And she will not pretend for you

Her intuition and her eloquence
Are seething thro every cell
But trapped where people front external and hype
It seems her friends just don't have the patience to tell her (that)
She learned more in a day than most do in their lives
The prize of wisdom obeys and the gift of her survives
And she will not pretend for you

What's hard for your eyes
Is what you see in yourself
What she can not disguise

The possibility
That your own mortality
Could ultimately be so near

Don't make her smile for that photograph
It's just for your comfort after all
He's just ignorant she says casually
From all her wisdom to all your fool

Bio

Inspired by Kendra's strength in "Senior Year," Sheila Nicholls penned "Kendra's Song" specifically for the series. She writes that her songs "are usually a mirror or commentary on a situation, experience, desire or observation, that help me see the right choices to a resolution, or just help me see." Kendra's high school experience is quite different from Nicholls who grew up in Colchester, Essex, England, a town 52 miles north east of London. Sheila runs her own label, Essexgirl Records, which is releasing her debut album "Brief Strop."
