About the Show

What is Senior Year?
During the 1999/2000 school year, six young filmmakers followed 15 teens through their last year at Fairfax High, a school at the epicenter of the explosion of diversity reshaping L.A. and the country. The result is an entertaining, provocative, and inspiring portrait of a generation on the verge of creating a new world.

Get the Soundtrack
The SENIOR YEAR soundtrack, featuring a brand new song by Ozomatli and lots of other great tracks, is available for purchase from Shop PBS.

The CD is a result of a collaboration-one between the kids of the series and the musicians and bands who connected with their stories and their lives. The original songs presented here weren't written about the kids, but through them. And the stories they tell are both timeless and as timely as tomorrow's headlines. This is the music of a generation that is throwing all the old definitions of race, culture, and ethnicity out the window. Created at Fairfax High in L.A., a city and school at the epicenter of the explosion of diversity in this country today, Senior Year is the story-and music-of a generation on the edge of a new world.
